Have you ever seen a wedding video where the couple dances on a white cloud spread across the floor? That effect is called "Dancing on the Clouds," and it is one of the most photographed moments of any reception. In this guide we explain exactly what it is, whether it is safe indoors, how long it lasts and what it costs in Cyprus.
What is "Dancing on the Clouds"?
It is the low fog effect created with dry ice. A special machine plunges dry ice into very hot water at the moment of the first dance; the vapour that forms is heavier than air, so instead of rising it stays on the floor and creates a dense, low cloud. The result: the couple looks as though they are dancing on the clouds, with stunning depth in the photos and video.
Is it safe indoors?
Yes. Unlike ordinary smoke machines, dry-ice low fog is odourless, leaves no moisture or residue on the floor and does not set off fire alarms. That is why it works comfortably in enclosed reception halls and hotels, not just outdoor venues. No permit is required — it is an effect, not a firework.
How long does the effect last?
As long as the first dance — typically around 3-4 minutes per "fill." The operator adjusts the intensity and the exact timing so the cloud is at its fullest just as you step onto the dance floor. For longer coverage or a second moment (for example, the couple's grand entrance) we use more than one machine.
How much does low fog cost in Cyprus?
At Seven Dreams the low fog effect ("Dancing on the Clouds") starts from €200, always with our own operator on site, and with setup and pack-down included in the price. See in detail what low fog includes and how it is set up at your venue.
Low fog or cold sparks — or both?
The two most popular choices for the first dance are low fog and cold sparks (ground fireworks). Low fog gives a romantic, dreamlike depth across the floor; cold sparks give striking golden fountains of light rising upward. Most couples in Cyprus combine the two — and together they cost less as a package than they would separately.
It is the moment the lights go down, a single spotlight stays on you, and every guest lifts their phone at the same time.
Both effects are safe indoors and require no permit. Combining them for your first dance is the surest way to get a video you will want to watch again and again.
Which areas do we cover?
We cover all of Cyprus — Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and the Ayia Napa/Protaras area. You can build your own package and see the price live, or call us so we can work out together what suits your reception venue.
